Super Antics by Kerry Callen [blogspot]
I’ve been thinking about this a lot. and I was hesitant to type this up since fandom seems to have different thoughts on what is acceptable of fandom once you release your “artform” out into the internet. so these things are things I feel strongly about, and may have people disagree with me. I live a life of, agree to disagree, but sometimes, I get worked up.
1. whoever is uploading my art to places like Pinterest, We Heart It, Livejournal, Facebook and Instagram (and even tumblr again! these are places I am finding it, not linked or sourced, Just uploaded/reposted) Or using my art, UNASKED for icons, or graphics. Please stop it or I will stop drawing for this ship and cease and desist and report until it’s all taken down.
It rustles my jimmies so much. I upload it here. here is it. If you want to use it for something, please have the human decency to contact me about using it, for your story or icon or whatever. And if you do use it, a link to me and DO NOT ALTER THE ARTWORK IN ANY WAY.
I can’t completely police the internet, and most of my art has to have the huge watermark on it because people tend to thieve art. I just, get so dismayed when I see my art on these sites without asking me about it first. even if it is fanart, which I try to tell myself to not have such an attachment to. Please don’t give me the, but you shouldn’t post it online/it becomes the communities bullshit. I WORK HARD ON THIS. AT LEAST GIVE CREDIT BACK TO ME AND A VALID, WORKING LINK. if you don’t know basic enough html to link me, then please send me an ask I will be more than happy to show you.
2. you should not go to my ask and whine or beg at me to draw something or mail you presents if I don’t know you. I appreciate suggestions on what to draw, when I ask for suggestions. I like to have respectful conversation with people, not “OMG YOU SHOULD DRAW THIS, WHY YOU NO ANSWER, DRAW THIS WHYYYYYY”
artists are not your personal workhorse to illustrate whatever whim. Art is one of my jobs I do to support myself and live. Coming to my askbox begging for art when I don’t even know you is really rude.
3. I like to do nice things for my followers and friends from time to time. my ask is open, and I like to chat with people when I have the time. I’ve made a lot of friends on here, and I enjoy the conversations. I get inspired by the most random things. my art is going to fluctuate in subject matter. I appreciate every note and comment I receive and I’m incredibly thankful in all of your interest in my art. I am a constant work in progress, and I feel my style continues to warp and change through time. I appreciate everyone who has hung around and supported me. for all of you who have sent me compliments and encouragements, and also helped me to progress in my work, thank you.
I hope this makes things clear, and off my chest.
Let me first start off with I never thought I have to do this but here I am. I have been with this ship since its beginning, and I have seen us flourish from a small boat to a full on ship. I have seen things come and go, but I have never been so angered or so disappointed in the ship till now.
As of lately, I’ve witness things in our tags that I’m not fond of, someone’s graphics being used without their consent, to the departure of two known writers which caused an epidemic for their work, and soon after an artist’s fanart being reposted, now a writer going on hiatus. I’m sorry to say but I’m getting pretty tired of this shit. Hahaha. If this continues our ship will come to an amicable end and this blog along with it. I’m setting my foot down on this, guys. I am not kidding.
I want respect for these people, these incredible, brilliant people who have dedicated their lives to give us joy by voluntarily writing, designing, drawing work for our ship. Please respect other people’s work.
DO NOT repost their work without consent and/or being credited
DO NOT distribute their writing after they have taken it down.
DO NOT think artists and writers are your bitches and will do whatever you say.
What I ask for is to respect the people who take time out of their lives and use their talents to give life to our ship. That is all I ask for.
